Biomonitoring of Air Quality

Biological methodologies for air pollution by trace metals, PAHs and particulate matter. Aims of  investigations are:
- to monitor air pollution by mosses and lichens;
- to standardize the biomonitoring procedure based on 'moss-bags' use and analyse the mechanisms of metal uptake and retention by mosses exposed in urban areas with different climatic conditions;
- to characterise the chemical and mineralogical properties of airborne particulate matter intercepted by biomonitor surface and collected by instrumental device.
